I am 9 years out from my RNY and have gotton so lack with my iron. I just had my lab work come back with a Ferrin level cam back at 5 th normal range is 22-291 ng/mL.   My Doc is strongly recommending that I go on Iron transfusions immediately.  I am so upset with myself that I have failed to keep up with my iron supplements.  Just a freindly reminder for all you years out, our bodies are forever changed.  Don't do what i did

It is a reminder that any WLS'er needs.

Now that you've had this happen, you can move forward and make sure that you keep up with your supplements so you don't have more issues.

I've been wondering why I pay extra for the multi with Iron, and this is a reminder as to why.

Sorry for the situation you're in though. Sounds rough!

Oh man, I hope not, since my doctor said it's enough! I guess only time will tell. I just had my blood work done and I'm going in for a six-month follow-up Tuesday so hopefully we can see how I'm doing so far!

It's very unlikely you'll get enough iron from your  multi.

My multi has added iron for this reason, it's not just a regular multi.

Yep, that's iron infusion low.  I'd get infusions ASAP.  And then I'd start keeping up with my iron supplements.

What is an iron infusion and why is iron so important, I will have surg in 2 wks, I bought the mult, do I need to get a separate iron also?

Iron is important because you need iron in your blood in order to transport oxygen to all your organs, including your heart and your brain.  An iron infusion is iron given through an IV.
