Looking for anyone who has had Lapband over Bariatric with Dr. Edward Hannoush in CT
Lapband over bypass surgery is just about the same amount of surgery as a revision. If you're going in for surgery at all, you should consider all your options.
band to sleeve revision and loving life!
You do you, and I'll do me
Your A1C is 9.1 and you are taking insulin? Doesn't your endocrinologist want you to either cut out carbs or increase your insulin or both??? It is very dangerous to have your BG levels so high and your diabetes out of control.
Maybe you should get yourself in good health before surgery and stop eating carbs and see a specialist about getting regulated. My surgeon would never have operated on me with out of control diabetes.
I need to find an endocronologist. I had a great one that retired some time ago and haven't found one yet . My PCP is trying to help me. I am cutting out all carbs (no potatoes, pasta, processed foods, etc). My blood sugar was 131 this morning which was good for me and I am now going to Jazzercise 6 times per week. You are right. I am just worried that taking insulin will make me gain and then be in a vicious cycle, but I am also taking fast acting insulin after meals if needed too.
You need to take your insulin. I think diabetes start doing the damage of blowing out your kidneys and harming other organs including your eyes at 150+ (could be 140). Top that off with High blood Pressure and you are a time bomb of horrible health.
It seems like you have an enlarged stoma which can happen with time and not even your surgeons technique. What that bleeding was about during your surgery I don't know. I looked at your surgeons history and yes there was a lawsuit - an endoscopic surgery turned into an open surgery (too fatty/big of a liver and could not see) and part of the woman's stomach was shredded. Unfortunately things can go wrong during any surgery. I know that I signed some sort of agreement or waiver pre-op ALWAYS that my WLS could possible go into an open procedure. This was especially true during my revision to sleeve. I will not say that your surgeon is perfect but many of his patient's have praised him in their reviews up until there was that lawsuit and then difficulty trying to reach his office. I am sure the litigation turned everything around - no one wants to step foot by you.
Anyways it seems like your surgery worked (you lost 100+lbs****il it did not. You should take strict hold of your diet. Eliminate as many carbs as possible. And please take your insulin. Diabetes is no joke!
Best,
Layla
Thank you Layla. I am very scared right now but determined. I had an ultra sound on my kidney's recently and everything was good and my cholestral and high blood pressure are in excellent shape. I will take strict hold of my diet. I did lose 100 pounds and will get back down to excellent health or I will be in big trouble. Thank you again!
Do it for the love of you.
Both my parents died from long term diabetes so I am hyper aware. On top of the weight and food etc. I have the genetics for it. My parents weren't obese and my Dad's family are quite tiny (ladies) and every single one of them are Type 2 diabetic from a pretty early age. My Dad at 27.
We only want the best for you over here. Too much success friend .
I'm with BethPets. Protein will not make your A1C go out of control, only carbs. Another surgery will not fix your food choices. Start following a proper WLS diet, and you likely won't need another surgery.
A DS can do a lot of things, but even it won't help an out of control high carb diet.
