Calcium Citrate Questions

Same question:  my Celebrate Calcium chewables say 500 mg as calcium citrate.  There is nothing about elemental calcium.  So taking 3 a day isn't enough??

The Celebrate brand give you the amount of elemental calcium.  So they have 500 mg elemental calcium per serving (I don't know if a serving is one or two chewables with the ones you are taking, read the label to see).

If the label says 500 mg calcium AS citrate or 500 mg calcium FROM citrate, that means it has 500 mg elemental calcium and the calcium is calcium citrate.

If the label says 500  mg calcium citrate (no AS or FROM in there), then it is NOT 500 mg elemental calcium.  Calcium citrate is only about 21% elemental calcium, so you'd have to multiple the 500 X .21 to get the amount of elemental calcium.

Thank you very much.

Mine is 500 mg per tablet calcium as calcium citrate.

Whew -- I am really pretty careful about these things --

Some labels are tricky. If it says 500mg AS Calcium Citrate, it is all elemental.

Some good brands are confusing, needlessly. Others are crappy brands, and are confusing intentionally.

That's pretty crappy, isn't it?

Some of these companies just suck. I particularly hate the companies that market crappy vitamins as "bariatric," and say you only need one or two, when you really need a handful.

Unfortunately, some people always look for shortcuts, and fall prey to these *******s. They want one small delicious pill instead of taking proper supplements at least four times a day. The newest of these gimmicks is the vitamin patch.
