Calcium Citrate Questions
I'm trying to switch over to a pill form and one that I have come across that looks promising says:
Serving Size: one (1) capsule
Amount Per Serving
Calcium Citrate 29% (500mg yielding 145mg Elemental) 500mg ~ 50% (daily value)
Magnesium Citrate 20% (125mg yielding 25mg Elemental) 125mg ~ 31%(daily value)
Magnesium Oxide 60% (125mg yielding 75mg Elemental) 125mg ~ 31%(daily value)
Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 250IU ~ 63%(daily value)
My question is, would I need to take 3 of these to get 1500mg, or should I be trying to get 1500mg of elemental?
One capsule only has 145 mg elemental calcium. Three a day would only be 435 mg. She would need at least 10 of those a day.

A big mistake I was making, I use to think that 500 mg was for 1 tablet. Someone set me straight told me to red the back of the bottle. Sez 500 mg per 2 tablets. I am paying the price for not getting enough calcium. My teeth are very bad because I didn't get enough calcium. I do now. If you have found a calcium citrate pill for "one" that gives 500 mg, please let me know what it is. thanks. Wendy..

You won't find one pill with 500 mg because it would be HUGE.

You need 1500 mg ELEMENTAL calcium from calcium citrate.

my bottle doesn't say anything about elemental calcium. it just says 1000 mg of calcium citrate per 4 tablets. this is what I take http://www.vitacost.com/vitacost-calcium-citrate-with-vitami n-d3-1000-mg-240-tablets-3 how do I know what the elemental mg are?
If the label says 500 mg calcium AS citrate or 500 mg calcium FROM citrate, that means it has 500 mg elemental calcium and the calcium is calcium citrate.
If the label says 500 mg calcium citrate (no AS or FROM in there), then it is NOT 500 mg elemental calcium. Calcium citrate is only about 21% elemental calcium, so you'd have to multiple the 500 X .21 to get the amount of elemental calcium.
