No reason why not! Malabsorption may decrease over time but if you eat fewer calories than you burn, the last pounds will go. Maybe not quickly, but they will go.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

This has nothing to do with a honeymoon stage. If your weight has been stable for a while and you want to lose more, you are going to have to cut back. Five pounds isn't a lot to lose, but you are going to have to do some work for it. The honeymoon period isn't responsible, you have to be.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

Nope, your honeymoon will last for about another year.   Right now, you are no longer losing, but maintaining effortlessly.  You can lose more weight, but will have to cut calories to do that.

When the honeymoon ends, then maintaining is no longer effortless and you have to watch calories to keep from regaining.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends

Sure, you can get to 173.  It is up to you.  You'll need to adjust what you're eating and/or be more active.  Is losing the additional few pounds worth the adjustment in eating a little less/exercising more?  If so, then 173 is doable.  However, if you're happy with what you're eating and your exercise now, you're maintaining the 177-180.

You choose what you weigh, surgery will take you so far and dump you in the road, once you get up and brush yourself off you decide if its where you wanna stay or go lower.  If you do nothing different you will gain back some weight.  Is that what you want?  Come all this way to gain some back.  Not me.  I kept lowering my goals as I achieved them and still weigh under my ultimate goal.  This is all up to you, listen to your body, watch everything you eat like a hawk and learn to eat like a normal healthy person not obsessed with food.

Are you keeping your carbs low?  I had my surgery 7/1/14, and I try to stick to 800 calories, with my protein, water, and exercise about the same as you.  I'm still losing.  Maybe you can cut back to 800 calories, or even 900, and watch the carbs?  You've done well!
