thank you! today is the first day the scale hasn't moved, but I got my period so that's very typical.

emotionally, I feel pretty good! I had a couple hard nights right after surgery but lately I've been fine.

physically, yesterday was my first day back at the office and I definitely felt it. I was pretty tired at the end of the day, and I had abdominal soreness. protein shakes haven't been my friend, but I'm going to trouble shoot a bit over the next few days and see if I can find a happy place.

overall its been good- I do have food daydreams, but I'm not hungry. and on sunday it was rainy and I caught myself walking over to hubby to ask if he wanted to order a pizza- habit!! crazy. the physical pulls cravings are not there, but the habits are.

overall, I've been losing at a great pace to start with and I'm very happy with my decision :)

Well, it seems like you already have some mental health issues that should be addressed - surgery isn't going to fix any of those things and might exacerbate some of them due to meds working differently as you lose weight.  The whole WLS and weight loss process is quite a mental and emotional roller coaster - it can take quite a bit of work to sort your head out and relearn coping techniques for life that don't involve food.  Plus there's the aforementioned hormone dumping on top of everything else.  And dealing with the way people will treat you.  And coping with how you'll treat yourself.

It's very worthwhile to invest the time and energy into finding a therapist you click with now, so that you've got that part of your Obesity Recovery Team in place.  A psychiatrist every three months won't fulfill the same role, sadly.

Go to your PCP and get a blood test to see if you're pre-menopausal, menopausal, or post-menopausal.  With no period in 5 years, my guess is post-menopausal, but only your doctor can confirm it.  If you are, don't worry about fluctuating hormones.  You don't have much going on anyway, and the weight loss isn't going to have a big effect in that regard.

Deep breaths and calm down.  If you're on meds for depression and anxiety, get your doc on board to monitor your medications as you lose weight.  Dosages will probably need to be adjusted.
