Back to the drawing board...
Had my first consultation with a surgeon today for revision from the band to either RNY or VSG. It went okay, but I don't think this surgeon is the one for me. I like him okay, but the office seems a little disorganized to me, and I don't like that they want me to make all the appointments (barium swallow, nutritionist, etc.) instead of formally referring me to a doctor. The last surgeon I had did the barium swallow at his office and the one before that set up the appointment for me. Oh, well. I'll go ahead and make the NUT appointment, but I went ahead and made an appointment with another surgeon, and hopefully we'll click better.

Trust your instinct. If you are not comfortable with the surgeon or his staff from the get-go, you will continue to feel that way moving forward. You should never feel uneasy about any aspect of an important procedure as such. Don't be discouraged about starting from square one. When you find the right surgeon for you, the process will move along smoothly. I can't ever say this enough... Trust your instinct.
I know it's for the best, but it's still irritating that I wasted the time. Once I decided that the band needs to come out, I can't help but want it out NOW, lol. Plus, the manager at that office was telling me that I need 4 months of nutrition appointments and a psych eval before I can get approved, but I don't think that's correct. Or at least, my insurance plan brochure doesn't say that's required for a revision, just either medical necessity or a complication.

If you have your insurance requirements in writing and the surgeon is asking you to complete tasks that the insurance does not require, make sure you show them the requirements. Verify also these are not requirements from the surgeon versus the insurance. Don't hesitate finding a new surgeon that listens to and respects what you say and the information you provide to them. You have to have complete confidence in your surgeon. Keep your chin up.
