Hi guys my BN did not slip they look at the floor scope with the barium swallow and it did great it showed my band to be in the correct spot my esophagus and everything looks wonderful he said my question is since a lot of people I've seen on here that will be that when I was said that there's are failing… I was wanting to kind a get a game plan in my head of what would be the next route I remember the sleeve, the Roux-en-Y, but is there anything else out there now that's better???

sorry for the long voice text please excuse lack of punctuation and misspellings :-) have a happy day

Hi Tricia, I just answered your other post from yesterday too.  you would do very well looking at the other forums on here.  Scroll up from any screen after you sign in, see "Forums", click on the little blue down arrow and choose several of them to look at, one at a time.  you should see "Failed lap bands", "Revision", "Lap Bands", "Roux en Y", and "Sleeve" to start.  You will get a lot of info from them.  :)

Edited to add:  I hadn't connected this with your post yesterday, I will leave the response below but have added another, more appropriate reply below this one.

I don't know the background but if your band is in the correct position and nothing appears to be wrong, then before thinking of undergoing another major surgery, you need to work out why you feel you need one. It is not automatic that things will go wrong, I am almost nine years post-op, there are people on here banded before me who are still doing fine. People throw stats around and I am not doubting them! But the stats do vary according to the size of the survey, the survey sample, the type of band, the surgical method used. Even if 50% of banded people need a second surgery (and many show lower figures), that means 50% don't!

Not saying those stats are good! But if it is "just in case", don't start worrying about a second surgery now!

If it is because you are not happy with yor weight loss, work out why. If you have a functioning band but are not losing or are gaining, there is no guarantee you won't eat round a different surgery.

This will not be a statement many on here would make, but if my band had to be removed, I would not have another surgery.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Have just realised you are the person who posted yesterday unable to swallow saliva and in pain. This changes my response!  Clearly if this is happening, you do have a major problem. But the barium must have gone down without any problem so you are obviously OK to swallow now.

How did your doctor explain the dramatic tightening yesterday? If it was caused by scar tissue, it wouldn't have gone away. And he has ruled out a slip.  Did you have a stuck episode which could have irritated the tissue? Did a tablet dissolve above the band?

If this happened once, you can't just leave it. The doctor needs to find out why it happened.

Voice memo again please excuse lack of punctuation and misspellings. When I was not put on my previous doctor because of my previous doctors associate who did it was there was 1.7 mL in my band we didn't know that I threw up repetitively for two days and irritated all that so when I came into the hospital here they end up taking the 1.7 mL out and the tightening instantly went away. I was on clear liquids for two days and soffits today and they watched me and actually being released right now I know I never have this problem again because I'm never going to go back to that doctor. I've had this been in since 07 or 08 and I have not had one but a problem with it like I said it can be down to 119 pounds effortlessly, I'm going to start doing better with my water though and trying not to drink it all during my nails yet

So I think you are basically saying that now your band has had the saline removed, you are fine again?

We all know bands can have complications, but if all is well, I wouldn't stress about a second surgery!

If the band was giving good results,  I would go for the sleeve.

If the band wasn't giving very good results before the slip, I would opt for something more drastic like the DS

It isn't easy to follow but I don't think she has a slip. I think she had bad vomiting, irritated the tissue under the band, had some saline removed, XRay shows band is fine and she is now OK. But I might be wrong. Her voice activated messaging is obviously not as efficient as Apple ones.
