Sorry you had all the trouble and complications...but thank you for sharing that info. Im farely certain I will go with the sleeve...I HAVE to do something, so I will conquer my fears and do it!

I hope you have also ruled out the plication that is merely a fake sleeve and doesn't give you the full benefits of the real sleeve. The real sleeve removes the area where the hunger hormone is and also the stretchier part of the stomach. The plication does not do that so you are left with a stomach that can re stretch and no hunger curbing! So just say yes to the real deal sleeve. I know someone close to me who had one over 20 yrs ago for cancer and they are fine and healthy today!

I would rather have no WLS than have the band.  The rate of complications is so high and sometimes it causes permanent damage to your stomach or other organs.  In fact, many surgeons won't do them anymore because they cause so many problems.

My surgeon used to do Band with Plication but he stopped. Didn't work better than the sleeve and you still have the complications of the band.

Don't do the band!  I had it, I hated it, I got rid of it.

Many surgeons are abandoning the band because its overall statistics are abysmal for weight loss and are incredibly high for the need for an additional surgery (either to fix a problem, to have the band removed, or to revise to a different WLS).

I work part time for a surgeon's office, only one of the surgeon's there is doing the sleeve and his actually discourages patients from choosing the band.

Some people are very successful with it, but the vast majority are not.
