You are already doing the right thing, going to the ER.  I hope all is well.  I had mine removed last summer and couldn't be happier to be rid of it and it's problems.

Sunshine, what were some of the problems you had that made you get it taken out?? Were you happy with the way you had gotten down to?

Hi Tricia,

I was able to take almost 40 pounds off with the pre0op diet and first couple of months with the new band.  Then, I was going an hour away several times over the next 18 months for fills/unfills (adjustments****il I finally got the right restriction.  But, in reality, even tho I ate what I was supposed to, chewed well and followed all the rules, I was vomiting all the time.  I never knew if anything was going to go down, stay down or come back up.  Then, one night, I vomited for a straight 12 hours.  Couldn't keep anything down and there was nothing n me to come up but the dry heaves wouldn't stop.  I decided at that point that it needed to come out.  That was no way to live.  In total, I lost 80 pounds before I gave up.

I think you said that a doctor told you there was a "kink", that meant there was a kink in the catheter tubing that went from your port (where the needle goes in for adjustments) and the actual band around your stomach.  if that was not taken care of immediately, the problem will continue.  I am now pre0op for the Sleeve and am very excited about it.

Hey sunshine! I'm doing another voice text so please excuse lack of punctuation and misspellings :-) I drove two hours to get my fills done as well I drove from Columbus to Cincinnati… So I know how frustrating it is but I went for four years without needing a fillet all that it just reads that sweet spot I stayed for five years I stayed the same weight so I was gonna start over the over again. Thank you so much for reminding me with my surgeon comes in tomorrow I'm going to ask them about that kink because they're going to have to fix that the tubing before they put a fill-in because I don't want to keep happening thank you so much :-) have a good night

Please tell me you've gone to the ER.  This can be life threatening.

They can be repositioned but I wouldn't advise it as they tend to slip again down the road. If you have excruciating pain then it has most likely eroded into your stomach from what I have read about it. Many of us from that era have already lost our bands for one reason or another. I hope your ER has you taken care of by now!

Oh my goodness! Don't say" from our era"!!I already feel old enough!! And are you serious about that?  I got my lapband in 2008.  my daughter was just four years old. Luckily for the years I didn't even have any problems and all it worked it get me down to 119 pounds  the whole time.  but then I got divorced after 20 year marriage, started smoking at night in the garage hiding and then I quit smoking last December and gained 21 pounds back , so I had just went this past spring to get a fill in at that time the associate Dr. that was helping my Dr Trace Curry said there was a kink in it??? I don't know what that means but it doesn't sound good ! anyhow I was fine up until about a month ago but then I started getting some acid reflux at night and I could take tums and that would be fine but in the past two weeks I had to sit completely up straight because the acid , it was like 32 ounces of acid just swishing from my stomach tonight now back and forth back and forth and they said the reason why that happened is because how that doctor told me that it looks  the doctor here at OSU said yeah and it caused an obstruction in my esophagus so food was not getting through there. And neither was water or anything else that's why the acid started, thank God it did not slip they're just gonna have a good two weeks with no solution in it and then start me back at square one which is what I need thank you for listening have a good night. Again this is a voice text and I apologize for the lack of punctuation and all of the misspellings :-)
