Any one who had RNY before 2005?

I had open RNY gastric bypass surgery in June 2004. There does not seem to be enough information and support for people. I find myself frustrated, depressed, and alone because of my health conditions that seem to keep stacking up. Is there any information or web sites that you guys can share with me? When you first have the surgery you feel so happy but as time passes our bodies let us know we have altered everything by choosing surgery. I am just looking for information to help me through this. It does not matter to me how much you have lost or gained. I just need some help and the only people who know about going through WLS is you who have had it. Thank you so much for your time. If you have any websites please post them. Thanks again :)  Amy

I'm not quite sure what you're looking for. I had surgery in 2001. There are local support groups where I live, some formed by post ops themselves, some put on by the surgeon that did your surgery and some are at the hospital that does wls procedures. I don't even remember I had surgery most days, eating and drinking the way I did the first year or two is such habit now I don't even give it a second thought. What kind of help are you looking for? Check out a graduates group in your area. That's the post ops that are the farthest out. There's one on this site too. What kind of information are you looking for? Do you still go to your doc for yearly follow ups and blood work? Your doc/surgeon's office would be a good place to start to find support groups or any other info you may need. Let us know specifically what you're looking for and maybe we can help more.

We need to know more about your health conditions in order to help you.  I had VBG in 1986 and a revision to RNY in 2010.  I had LOTS of complications with the first surgery.  My RNY gave me my life back.

I have to be compliant with the RNY rules of eating or I am uncomfortable.  I have Reactive Hypoglycemia but, if I eat right, I have zero problems. I've had iron deficiencies and need to get periodic infusions.

Some of the health conditions could be from vitamin deficiency.  Others may be related to the types of food you are choosing to eat.  We need to know what you are experiencing to give you any advice.
