Is anyone here still high BMI ?
I don't understand the question. People on here can start as high as 500lbs. We have people at all stages of loss, from that 500 down to 125! Many if not most are still in the losing stages and so are going to be as heavier or heavier than you. Many are pre-op and haven't even started losing. Many are fighting regain. The vets, that is the formerly obese, are probably in the minority. Most vets stop posting when they reach goal; a few stay simply to support people like you. Use them to inspire you not to make you feel alone!
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I'm 7 months and 117 lbs down, my BMI is finally out of the 'Obese" categories and squarely in the 'Overweight' realm. Anyway. There has always been alot of disagreement with those stupid tables. They aren't accurate, they are designed around ideal estimates. Forget them. Track your loss and celebrate your success. I was really hung up on those stupid charts and had my goal set right in the middle of ideal. I went to my primary doctor and he told me I was a fool. I'd look like an concentration camp survivor if I went that low.
I find more rewarding goals and benchmarks in other things. Like the first time someone says "Wow you've lost a ton of weight". Or the first time you get on a plane and can sit in the seat comfortably. The first time you can go to the store and buy clothes off the rack from a normal store. Those are the things that I shoot for. Let the medical professionals use the BMI tables and don't worry about them.
