Panniculectomy questions...

so I have been having abdominal pains and such esp during/after workouts. Went to my surgeon office they say I have a diastasis and now I see a plastics surgeon Wednesday 😳 from my understanding this is a big procedure kind of like a more in depth tummy tuck of sorts? They say my ins shouldn't have a problem approving the surgery. Anyone else have this and did everything go smoothly with your ins company? They said the incision will look like an upside down T. And that the excess skin hanging is pulling on the muscles etc causin the pains.

I had it done years ago.... It was 11 pounds of skin removed... A major operation but would do it again in a minute. Go to my profile and see the pics... Graphic but as they say pics dont lie lol... It has been nine years the 27th of this month and have continued to keep the weight off. 250lbs... Read my blog on there. It was also approved thru the ins.. Hope this helps...Blessings to you...

Karma....What would life be without it?  250lbs gone! 410/160... Life's sweet!

Amazing transformation. Those plastic surgery pictures are amazing. Wow! I am still on the journey and am wondering where I will be in that department at the end. So encouraging to see great results and that you ahve kept the weight off.

I had it done a little over 3 years ago, 20 pounds of skin had been removed, also I had a ventral hernia repaired at the same time. It's a major operation, two days late my doctor told my I needed a blood transfusion (needed 2 pint of blood), I was giving out to much blood through the j.p. drains. About a year later I had another round of the panniculectomy which 2 to 3 more pounds had been removed. All that skin that was hanging pulled on my back muscles. My insurance paid for the two rounds of the panniculectomy surgeries. The first round of the surgery the incision looked like a smile, when I had the second round the doctor told me that the incision will look like an upside down T. Indeed the excess skin that's hanging did pull on the muscles and really made my back hurt. At some point I might have to go back to the same doctor that did the second round of the panniculectomy surgery for a follow-up, also I would need to see him about my chest area which is hanging on me and I hope my insurance would pay for it.

I don't remember having any abdominal pain, but I do remember having pain from the ventral hernia that I had and the back pain that I had from the hanging skin around my abdominal area. Hope this helps you out with some info..
