wellcare insurance approval

Does anyone know how long it takes for wellcare to approve bariatric surgery. My surgeon submitted my paperwork today.

Give it a few days and call them.

I don't know about Wellcare but I have UMR and they told my husband and I to expect a 3-4 week wait. Bub doesn't think it will take that long. I happen to think that the delay may have more to do with the speed in which they get the paperwork submitted versus how long it will actually take to hear from the insurance.

Hey could you let me know if you were approved yet? I have Wellcare and using the same Doctor. Who was/is your patient advocate?

Every insurance company and plan is different. Call the customer service number and ask what their ballpark is.

Most folks on the boards hear back in about two weeks.

I have wellcare of Georgia and my surgery is scheduled for 12/12/2016. I was told by my surgeon's office that they want six months of visits with my doctor before they approve it. I hope the documentation he provides will be sufficient because my patient care advocate gave me paperwork to have him fill it out for each visit. and my PCP doesn't know anything about weight management but he said he'll fill out the papers and discuss it with me. Which is weird...but did Wellcare approve yours?
