Keep a close eye on it and follow the instructions to the letter. I had complications and infections for 3 months after surgery and had to do the "heal from inside out". It's not easy, but you will be fine.  Again, follow the instructions and keep a close eye on it.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

How soon after surgery were you able to go back to work? Did they keep you pretty well medicated for pain, or did you have to suffer through it? I need to get back to work right away. I had planned on starting back this past Monday. I do phone tech support from home, but I can't do it on pain meds, so I haven't started back to work yet. I am having a lot of pain at that incision. I tried not taking the pain meds, but I just couldn't bear it.

Everyone's case is different so go by what your surgeon says.  But Mike it's going to be an open wound and you have to change the bandages often.  When you have the procedure done ask him these questions.  Again, everyone is different I had complications on the table and they had to open me up and that is what got infected.  It took me 3 months....

Don't frea****il you speak to your surgeon but I didn't want to sugar coat it either....

most of the pain is from the fluid build up inside. If the antibiotics are successful in drying the infection up,you should not be in a s much pain,in a few days.

If it had to be opened, cleaned out,and packed, once he opens it and cleans out the fluid, etc,it will be less painful.

Of course, the opening and packing is going to hurt a certain amount.,but once it is emtied and packed it should hurt less.

also be aware that it can open on its own if the pressure becomes too much. It will scare you to death with this gushing bloody fluid, but it will instantly feel. Better. You will not bleed t o death as this is trapped bloody fluid that has to get out.

If it does that you. Need to cover it and let your surgeon know ASAP.

Yikes, that sounds scary (and painful)!  I hope the antibiotics work and work quickly.  I would not want the alternate route either.  Hang in there and keep us posted.
