Leakage Testing

Can someone explain how they do the leakage testing after surgery? I have watched some YouTube videos where patients have a tube in their nose going down to their stomach. Did everyone else have this tube?

My test was very easy. I stood in front of this big piece of equipment, I was told when to drink this nasty stuff. As I drank it shows it going down in to my stomach to make sure all was well. I am sorry this is all in layman's terms, I am sure one of the older vets can give you a better explanation. But overall it was no big deal ;)

Best of Luck!

Ditto!  The taste of the stuff was the worst part for me :P

Same here and for me it was torturous since I *knew* something was wrong and could hardly breathe let alone drink that nasty drink!  But it confirmed the kink in my sleeve, so that's that.

I had nothing invasive for the leakage check.  My surgeon does it before he closes up and then after 24 hours --- drink a contrast (that's the hardest part-- it tastes nasty and it's more than a few sips -- I didn't want to throw up) and then an image is taken.  I was sore standing, but it was nothing to worry about at all.  :-)

No tube for me.  I stood in front of a machine, took a tiny sip of the liquid they gave me and that was it.  Whole thing took less than 5 minutes.

My surgeon does the leak test while patients are still on the operating table. I had open so it was easy to do and see if there was

a leakage.

No tube, just as everyone said. Drink a nasty liquid and they take a few images. 5 minutes -over fast.
