Surgery didn't work
You are right-how many do you need to "get it" and counseling is probably an excellent suggestion. My comment yesterday and any today were just from the mode of "attack" on the poster I perceived-not conversation or suggestion. I don't know what you went through-and likewise, I don't know the history of anyone here, nor they me. It is simply the way the ever impersonal email/text comes across. And you and other posters are right-handholding isn't going to get anyone much of anywhere, but neither is a hateful criticism.
I think it pretty much IS unheard of that surgery just does not work, unless performed incorrectly. I would consult another surgeon ASAP for another opinion and to find out if your surgeon did something wrong when performing your surgery.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
At 2 weeks out it is totally normal not to feel restrictions. The posts are a dime a dozen on here of people talking right after surgery that they don't feel restriction. I promise that will change esp. when you start solid food. and 2 weeks out it is totally normal for many people not to be losing that much weight or any at all. Your body is recovering from surgery and like me, some people go into an almost immediate stall even on 400 or 500 calories a day. What my Doctor said is "i am not worried it will happen" He wasn't worried because he knew he had rearranged my insides. Are you setting yourself up for failure because you have decided it won't work?

I have a different surgery but I have been reading these boards for nine years. Time and time again, I read of people saying that due to cut nerves which need to heal, people feel they have no restriction at all for many weeks. Your doctor might have more more helpful to tell you that rather than tell you the surgery doesn't always work.
and unless the surgery was done incorrectly, your body has been altered in such a way that there must be some effect. Drinking might easily be no problem as liquids slide straight through and I would assume that at two weeks post-op you haven't tried solids.
I find it an extremely odd thing for your doctor to have told you. And if, as you say, he has given you permission to start eating meat (another odd thing!) , be extremely careful. Remember those cut nerves are not sending messages. You could do yourself a great deal of harm
people who have responded to you are not saying they never slip up. But the vast majority are like me. They do NOT slip up during the strict post-op phase! Most of us (these who have succeeded) can honestly say that during that period we did as we were told by our doctors. I would imagine particularly those who are on a second surgery!
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I'd ask him why for some people the rny doesn't work & how that applies to you. It's seems kinda strange that he tells you that and you're only 2 weeks out, makes me think maybe he did something wrong?, & advancing your diet so quickly also seems kinda strange, you might want to get a second opinion, you don't want to damage your pouch.

I would get a 2nd opinion from another Bariatric Surgeon. If this is what you want just stay focused and don't give up. You'll make it. Also know that there are some bitter people on this site which is why I don't come here often but don't let them bother you. Know that their bitter comments are only about them and their misery and has nothing to do with you. Also I think there is a block button somewhere where you block certain users. I know I have had to use it in the past and works like a charm. Best of luck to you !!!
So I just came back from my 2 week post op Dr. visit and the news wasn't good. He said that for some people the surgery (RNY) just doesn't work. I have had no restriction and can eat and drink without any problems. He told me to advance my diet to solid food now (hamburger, chicken and fish) and try some vegetables. Has anyone ever heard of the surgery not working right out of the gate? I'm a little disappointed to say the least.
Did Dr. Pohl do your band also or did you seek him out for the revision?
