I'm going to be alone forever

I don't think you will be alone for any of the reasons you mentioned. There may be some people who won't put forth the effort to know you, but you don't want to mess around with them any way.

Despite having been married for more than 20 years, I am a bit unconventional myself. I am also very independent, to the point that my husband has said it exasperates him sometimes. I just reply that he certainly wouldn't want a fainting flower who waits around for him to do everything.
