Paleo
I am joining a gym called Iron Tribe that works on physical fitness and diet. Their eating plan is based on Paleo. Is there anyone post surgery that is eating Paleo? I am close to 4 weeks out from surgery and don't want to hinder my weight loss and protein intake during the weight loss stage. If you are eating Paleo, can you tell me what foods you are eating and quanities? I will also post this on the VSG forum.
Thanks
Not sure if you have instagram but there is this guy named username_dopeaf awesome dude, he shows so many recipes that involve low carb some may be on the paleo diet, worth a look, good luck to you on your journey. I had gastric on 12-29 & its no joke but im looking forward to this journey!!
The paleo food plan is pretty close to how a post-op is supposed to eat - protein, vegetables, good fats, fruit, nuts & seeds. No grains, dairy (meaning no cheese), legumes (including peanuts/peanut butter), and of course no sugar. Most of us do eat dairy in the form of greek yogurt, cheese, and whey-based protein products, and some people incorporate whole grains (I don't eat grains of any sort). Look up a website called Whole 30, it explains the paleo plan. There are probably a bazillion other sites too, paleo's pretty popular. I don't see how following paleo can hinder your weight loss, but it's pretty intense for an early-op. Check with your surgeon's food progression plan if you have questions about a given food.
I am banded not sleeved but paleo is more or less how I eat. My normal food is meat, cooked without sauces, vegetables without dressing, raw fruits and nuts. I say more or less because I am a very long way post-op and have been (again more or less!) maintaining for over 7 years so I am a bit more flexibie than I was at first.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Paleo is not all the different than what you will be doing... but wouldn't get caught up in all the hoopla.. they haven't had WLS... you are very early out. just follow the plan your surgeon has given you. Count your protein. Count your water.
