Retrain your new stomach is this possible??
hello,
a few months ago I read something about shrinking your stomach if you notice that you are or have gained some weight after surgery. is there really such thing and if so, would it be just to go back to the way we were told to eat after week 4 post op?
6 small meals a day?
I went from eating this amount to 3 times a day with one snack if that. I have NOT gained weight however I am afraid that I will as it is much easier for me to eat larger portions.
as of May 28 I will be 2 yrs post op. I have lost a total of 240 lbs. (started at 420lbs and now hovering between 180 and 182 lbs)
I am grazing much more especially in the evening. Eating chips "the healthier kind" like pop chips.
Can anyone give some advise as to what I can do
You are probably talking about the 5 day pouch test. Not really a test at all. LOL. I haven't done but it but I guess some people like it because it helps to get you off the carbs and back on track. There is a website, you can goggle it. Good Luck.

All sleeves and pouches will stretch a bit over the first 2 years. There's not a thing you can do about it. Studies in patients with significant regain have shown that it is only rarely due to a stretched stomach or stoma. It is usually because of bad eating habits, such as you pointed out.
The bigger issue for RNY is stoma stretching, rather than pouch stretching. With a stretched stoma, it won't matter what size your pouch is. But it is still really rare.
Concentrate on controlling what you eat. You can control that.
