Thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement. I did get a prescription for something to calm me down. So far, I'm not feeling it. I'll be ok though.

Mike, Good Luck tomorrow. Your nervousness is normal. Most of us here had had it at some level. Having the surgery is so worth it. I probably lose over 300 pounds with all the dieting over my lifetime. But was never able to maintain a normal weight. My entire life and that of my husband was affected.

I didn't actually set a goal for myself because I thought I would plateau at some point. It never happened. I am down about 200 pounds . I weigh less now than when I got married 42 years age. The difference in my outlook on life has changed drastically.

Happy New Year and Happy New Life.

Hope things went well. I knew that if I didn't do this I would never lose weight. If I could have done it without the surgery I would have by now. We all travel different paths. You will have people who think you took the easy way out but this is not easy. My surgery was five months ago and I have lost 82.6 pounds. The first month was the hardest but there was no going bac****pt telling myself that others have done this successfully and so could I. Eventually it became easier and the rewards are so worth it. I will be anxious to hear how you are doing!

Well, I made it. Have lots of pain, but they are treating the pain aggressively. I've walked 3 to es so far. The first walk was about 10 yards, the 2nd one was about 15 yards, and the third was one complete lap around this ward.

What is it that causes your mouth be sooó dry? Ice chips have been very soothing, and are now my new best friend.

Thank you all for your support, and for sharing your successes.

Glad it's over. You'll feel crappy for a while, but every day you'll feel a little bit better.

Walk as often as you can. Keep getting as much fluids as possible.

Hey Grim,

I certainly am getting my sips in, as well as my steps. They just changed my pain meds from morphine to hydracodone elixer. I was very skeptical about how effective the elixer would be. To my delight, the elixer is working better than the morphine. I was able to walk much farther, than I did with the morphine, and my pain level is much lower than before, for a very long time.

I'm home. All went well. I passed the swallow test with no leaks. All is good. I am sure tired though.

Congratulations!  Take it easy. You need plenty of time to rest and heal. You have loads of internal sutures so be careful but walk walk walk. That will help with the gas.
