So I'm sleeved! Everything went as expected at hospital.  Pain was tolerable, but what was not expected was the pain from gas!!! I have to say, that might be the worst thing! I had surgery Monday, it's Thursday now and I'm just starting to find a little relief from the gas. It sometimes pops up, but less and less.  Other than that forcing myself to drink liquids has been pretty tough.  Also, when I eat jello or yogurt... I don't know how much to eat/swallow and I find myself swallowing too much and ouch!!! It's like a giant air bubble going down.  Or I drink too much water and I'm so full there a really bad pain where my diaphragm is.  I'm hoping all of this is normal. My incisions are ok, only painful when I twist, and it's really only my middle one now.  One major concern is I have a 10 month old baby and it's killing me not being able to pick her up! When will I be able to do that? I'm still too sore right now, but I can't wait that long!!

You need to ask your surgeon about lifting

I was instructed not to lift more than 8-10 pounds for 6 weeks.

it sounds all normal. I was told not to lift more than 15lbs. for 6 weeks. What did your Doc tell you about lifting? Follow their instructions.

Oh that first week was a real bummer as far as trying to get liquids in.  I remember.  Do the best you can, the pain and discomfort DOES eventually go away.  Your tummy is swollen and healing.  Feel better soon xoxo

I'm new to the forum and I'm still tossing between sleeve and bypass. Can I ask why you chose sleeve and do you think it's a better option? I would really appreciate any advice I can get

Personally, the idea of Malabsorbtion scared me!  My main problem is the amount of food I would eat at one sitting.  I had no portion control.  Also, it was what the dr recommended, and I was happy he did.  I will say this..whatever you choose, it is NOT easy! This has been very hard! But I know it will be worth it in a few months!
