Not a veggie Lover
I have been on the pre-op (VSG) diet since Dec 13 (10 days) and I have lost 16 pounds. yah! 1000 calories , 100 carbs, 60 protein a day diet. I had the dietitian check out my food journals and she said I don't see very many veggies in there. I told her I was a VERY picky eater. This has always been my problem. Variety. lettuce, carrots, cooked tomatoes, onions peppers if they are tiny, tiny. That's about it. Maybe I should substitute with more protein shakes?
I'd work on learning to enjoy veggies. Try preparing them in different ways - like roasting fresh veg!

Protein shakes won't give you veggies (unless you somehow put veggies in them). Why not just eat more of the veggies you do like?

The dietician suggested I mix things up. She is already seeing a pattern after just 10 days that I tend to eat the same foods over and over. I have been losing my sense of smell but my taste buds still work just fine. It would be such a shocker if my taste buds would change after surgery. When we got a restaurant I order lettuce with crotons and carrots nothing else. no egg etc I once had the palms of my hands turn orange from eating so many carrots.
That may change post-op. It's amazing what happens when your body is free from crap for awhile. I remember craving a salad. I couldn't wait till I was cleared for it. This is a big healthy step having weight loss surgery so maybe time for some more new changes... future veggie lover ;)
Toss some raw baby spinach in your protein shake. JLO does it http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2014/06/jlo-j ennifer-lopezs-spinach-protein_22.html
Congrats on your weight loss!!
Pre op I broke out in hives near veggies But as you embrace the new you and discover your taste buds again you will be surprised. Give it time, but as everyone has suggested experiment and you may find they are your best friend and delicious. I love a plate of grilled veggies. YUM!

Kathy

I tried a cucumber once I thought it smelled good. I didn't chew it or swallow it. It was nasty!
there are SO many wonderful vegetables in this world that experimenting and finding something you like should be easy! I would say try for vegetables that have a nutritional value. Iceberg lettuce has like zero nutrients because it is mostly water. Try a mesclun mix or spinach leaves. I love love love kale but that is a bitter green and since you're picky you may not like. But green veggies usually have the most bang for your buck so to speak...
