Fitbit - motivating or a toy?

I like data too.  Hopefully by wearing a fitness tracker that data will increase as I use it more.  Double bonus for it being a good watch as well.

I went to the Dr Friday and I wanted to start tracking exercise more than just time.  So I went to the store on Saturday bought a Fit*****arge.  I set the time on my phone for 20 minutes and start walking.  I can see how far I've gone when I am done.  Actually makes me want to walk more when it shows me I'm close to so many steps for the day.  I really like it.  Even thought about getting my mom who is 73 one for Christmas.  She likes to walk also.

That is really good to know.  How you set the time and started walking, and wanted to walk more is what I can see I'd do.  When I see where I am with my steps, I will want to do more.

Your mom is lucky if you get her one for Christmas.

it is a useful toy.  It motivates me to do more when I see days that I only got 1-2,000 steps a day.

I setup reasonable goal of 8,000 steps a day.

And on average I get that.

Get a Bitbelt.  They are only a few dollars and keep the band in place.

I think that I'll be the same way.  When I see how many steps I've done, I'll want to do more to reach my step goal.

Thanks for your reply!

I think my husband probably bought me the Charge.  I saw the HR Force and it is a nice one.  I hope you get it!

I have the fitbit one & I really like it. I clip it to my bra & I find myself trying to find ways to get all my steps in plus I like that I can use it with the my fitness pal app. I'm waiting for the charge to come out. I also like getting the weekly email of the breakdown of all my steps, stairs climbed etc. Since I check it on my computer, I can see the totals from week to week.
