Frustrating- these stupid stalls

Men are so lucky -- you can eat so many more calories! I am 11 months out and I still cannot eat more than 800 calories. At 1200 I wouldn't lose a darn thing!

"Lucky" would NOT be the word. I wish I could only eat 800 calories. But 800 calories is not enough-I'm starving-headaches, weakness, etc.. ! At first -in the beginning-I was fine with just 600-800 calories, but it has seemed to go up. Just hope that in the next few months it does not go up to 1500 calories or higher! You would think that as a man and at my weight - I could lose on 1200 calories daily with exercise???
1200 calories a day is a lot for less than 4 months post-op. I didn't even try fruit for the first 4-5 months and then very, very little. Are you tracking exactly how many carbs you're getting per day?
I know everyone has a different program so I'm only suggesting this because you're complaining about stalls. Sounds like you have a terrific exercise program for fitness. To jump start the weight loss you may want to do what I did: 800-900 calories a day, 40 grams of carb and 80 grams of protein every day . I hit goal within 7 months of surgery. It was a plan that worked very well for me and I didn't find it a problem sticking to it and never felt hungry...except when I would eat that damn fruit - lol!

You sound very similar to me. I am 11 months out and I eat less than 800 calories a day, work out for an 1 to 1.5 hours five to six days per week. I also do not eat fruit. Carbs/sugars make me hungry and stall my weight loss. I have never "stalled" for more than 7 days. I eat less than 40 g of carbs (no fruit) with at least 80 grams of protein every day. That's the secret of my success, too. I know I could never lose at 1200 a day -- but perhaps men can?

My plan is very specific, I only eat 4 times a day. 6 am, 11:30, 3, and 6 pm. Nothing else in between, ever. I want to eat often!!! But it is my secret success. No eating in between. I agree at 4 months out your volume seems high and a month of a stall seems long. I had short stalls then but never more than 10 days. Now at nearly my goal weight and it is very slow but I'm still down 4 or so lbs per month. I'd drink tons of water and crystal light through out the day.
That's a good rule. They said grazing can be very dangerous because we usually eat more than we think and since it is just a tidbit here and then there, we don't record it. For instance, as I think about it. I went out to get lunch for everyone. I got a 12 oz mushroom soup which according to it's nutrition, is about 190 calories of which I put into Fitness Pal. But as I think about it I did not record the 4 saltine crackers along with it, which is high carbs and probably about 50 calories and I had coffee this morning with 2 teaspoon powder creamer which probably is about 30 calories. Pre&post workout Protein drink was 300 calories (wrong one, usually I use Premier Protein at 160 calories and less than 2 carbs, but store was out of them), going to start diluting these I have). Had a boiled egg, & coffee w/ creamer for breakfast (100 calories) Wild Mushroom soup for lunch with 4 saltine crackers. (220 calories.) I can see the high sodium now. Around 2:30-3:00 I'll have 10 green olives and 10 cherry tomatoes (about 50 calories) so that will put me atabout 730 calories. Just have to make sure my dinner is only about 300 calories. I've burned about 500 calories this morning doing cardio and circuit training. But I do see where I need to make changes. Gonna have to start preparing lunch at home and stay away from those crunchy carbs, and stop the "automatic" grazing!!! Also going to up my water intake. Thank you!
yes,it is pretty much an Atkins style diet, but the difference is ,that now since surgery, eating Atkins style will allow us to lose, AND MAINTAIN the loss, which was always a problem pre Wls.
Grazing,to me,is eating things not on my plan. If I eat meat, nuts, cheese,Greek yogurt, etc, high protein foods every 2-3 hours, that ie feeding myself, not grazing. Grazing to me is eating a bite of my DH potatoes at dinner, a chicken nugget frommy grand kids plate,a French fry or two or ten. That is grazing,to me. If I eat meat now, and a string cheese 2 hours from now,a Nd cottage two hours from then, that is nourishment. I have to eat about 6 times a day to. Get proper nourishment cause my sleeve holds just so much
the real key to it,is looking at what you are eating. It is possible to eat a lot of calories of lean meat and non carby veggies and some cheese and nuts. You will be surprised. The lean meat keeps us full and satiated. Longer as does some healthy fats, like nuts and olives. .
If you are doing a lot of exercise 1200 calories may not be too much. What i saw in your list of food you had a lot of carbs mixed in there. I was taught protein first, then veggies and then if you have enough room fruit and maybe some starches. Reality is if you are eating protein and veggies first, rarely do you have room for the others. Rather than counting calories, maybe look at your grams of protein, carbs and water intake. Use my fitness pal, even if it's just for a week to get a snapshot of things. I had a 3 1/2 week stall in month 1 and another one for 2 weeks. It happens.
