chronically dehydrated

I am trying so hard to stay optimally hydrated but it's a daily failure. I just can't seem to get it right. I've even gone so far as to keep an electric kettle in my office to encourage drinking hot tea. When I drink my full 64-70 oz of water I feel soooo much better. Energy is up, no headaches, eat less. But I can't get that much into my day. Any ideas as to what I can do? I've wondered if anyone has done home I.V. saline drips? It's kinda becoming a problem for me.

Can you set a timer to go off every 10-15 minutes to remind yourself to take a sip?  Maybe one on your phone so you can adjust the volume.

Not really and it isn't that I forget I just can't consume that much water...I feel full and when I really pu**** I feel an adversion to drinking any more.

What about things other than water?  Hot tea, like you mentioned or crystal light lemonade or any other flavor?

This was part of the deal when you had surgery.  I'm sure you were aware that you would be required to drink at a minimum 64 ounces of water per day.

Several people have given you options to make it more palatable.  It's time to do it.  Once you incorporate it into your lifestyle, you will feel it when you don't consume enough water.

If you can't drink large sips at one gulp, then you're going to have to drink smaller sips more regularly.  It's that simple.  Since you notice a physical difference with your body when you don't drink enough fluids, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.

I'm going to have to watch how I'm drinking and see if that makes a difference. I definitely guzzle the water because I'm always playing catch up between patients. Maybe it's this that makes me feel full so quickly.

I had to go back and check your surgery date a couple times because I truly couldn't believe what I was reading.  Honestly, I have a difficult time believing that at 2-1/2 years post-op you are still struggling to get in your fluids.

Here's Tough Love Tracy talking to you:  there's absolutely NO reason on this planet that you can't get in at least 80-100 oz. of water per day.  None.  If you aren't getting enough water it's because you aren't trying hard enough.  Especially if you're an office worker!

I get up an hour earlier than I need to each morning just so I can start drinking water.  And I literally start drinking from the moment my feet hit the floor.  I have a jug of water waiting for me and I make sure that in the 2 hours before I leave for work that I have taken in at least 24 oz. of water.  Not tea...not coffee...not protein shake.  Water.

I drink right up until I eat meals or snacks.  I wait 20-30 minutes after a snack to drink and I wait a full hour after a meal to start drinking again.  A water bottle is on my desk, in my car and in my purse at all times.  I make sure to stop drinking at 8:00 p.m. so I'm not getting up in the middle of the night to run to the bathroom.

IV saline drips at home? Ummm, not gonna happen.  Have people had to go to the hospital for fluids?  Sure, but not at 2-3 years post-op unless they've had other illness/medical issues/complications going on.

Take yourself in hand and get this taken care of.  It's the easiest and cheapest lifestyle change to make compared to everything else you have to do post-op and one of the most critical.

80 should be your minimum, 100 if you are working out and sweating a lot on that day.
