Restless Leg Sydrome releved by surgery?
I have had RLS for years it is progressively getting worse. Hard to ride in a vehicle with out being medicated if the trip is very long. Evenings are worse. Has anyone had the gastric sleeve ( or any other surgery) and had it go away or get any better? I take Requip which usually knocks me out so I can only take partial pills during the day when needed. My Sleep Dr tells me all anti-depressants make RLS worse. Too bad Celexa keeps me sane. I have high hopes that getting the weight off will allow me to exercise again and maybe the RLS will get better.
I have had periodic bouts of RLS for years and -- unfortunately -- losing weight has not changed the frequency or intensity.
It would make sense that being more active might help. I am more active certainly, but I don't do any formal exercise other than using a recumbent bike that I have at home, so I don't know if that would make any difference or not.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I've recently learned that restless leg syndrome can be a result of low iron, so that might be worth investigating.

My RLS is much better, but I don't think my WLS can take any credit for it. I think it's because now I take a lot of vitamins and minerals, and get regular labs done to make sure everything's where it should be. Usually potassium and magnesium affect RLS, and I was probably low on them before I started watching my labs closely.
