I had my VSG weightloss surgery 11/14/2011. Every since I have had the surgery I have diarrhea everyday. The only thing I can eat that does not go straight through me is anything Potato related or breads. I can eat black eyed peas and 10 minutes later off to the bathroom I go. Is this normal? Does anyone else this far out from surgery experience this as well? This can not be good for my body and it makes me feel defeated from eating. My whole day revolves around what I can and can not eat due to having to run to the bathroom! HELP with advise!!

What you said originally is that you have had diarrhea every day for three years and that it only DOESN'T happen when you eat potatoes and bread. Now -- in response to the comments of others -- you are saying that it only happens when you eat certain foods.  So if only certain foods cause diarrhea but you have had it every day for three years straight, are we to assume that you are eating those foods every day despite the fact that they give you diarrhea?!? Do you see why people are questioning the veracity of your post?

You also did not originally mention seeing a doctor or having any lab work or testing done.  We don't know you; we only know what you write in your posts.  As Kate said, people are trying to figure out why, based on the way you initially presented the situation, you would endure it for three years and why you would think that what you are experiencing is "normal" (especially since you didn't even have a surgery with an intestinal bypass component... if you had RNY or DS people might be less skeptical).

if only certain foods cause it, don't eat those foods.  If everything causes it and you are having diarrhea daily, see a GI specialist.

Get checked out for bacterial overgrowth of the intestines.  I seriously did not have a solid BM for 8 years until my revision.  I had a lot of relief when I took Flagyl as far as the number of BMs but never the consistency.

My revision fixed the configuration of my intestines so I was no longer prone to the overgrowth.

Here is some more information.

So it's been a while since I've been on here. I had my sleeve in October of 2011, and have been doing pretty well ever since.

Until recently. I have gained back about 15# from my lowest and am actively trying to get rid of them by paying even more attention to what I eat and working out with a trainer for an hour twice a week. I had an abdominoplasty back in October and am just starting to transition out of wearing the compression garments every day. Here's my dilemma....I've had diarrhea every day at least once a day for the last 8-10 weeks. Any suggestions or thoughts as to what is going on? I take immodium and it helps temporarily but then it comes back. Ugh! Please help! I've contacted my surgeon to see if he has any ideas but no answers yet....
