has anyone had the vsg and lost 150 pounds or more??
From my surgery date until today (which happens to be my 11th month anniversary) I've lost 150 pounds. Still more to go, but it can be done.

Everybody loves their surgery. It is a tool and you can do well with any of the surgeries. In the end it comes down to following your eating and exercise plan. The sleeve was not offered when I had surgery, but my surgeon says he is having similar results with sleeves and RNY.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Have you looked at the DS at all? It has a sleeve stomach, but with malabsorption to give you that metabolic kick. We've had many sleeves get revised to the DS later when stey stopped short at losing or started regaining.
Sometimes it's not just about what you eat. It also has to do with what your body does with the food. I couldn't lose weight no matter what I tried, but the DS fixed it for me.

I'm 16 months out and I've lost 145 so far. It is possible!!
Hey there. Ironically I jsut posted this morning. I had my 6 month appt and I am down 159.9 (8 days short of 6 months) withthe sleeve
The Sleeve is a good procedure and you can lose 150 pounds with it. I don't agree that the RNY would be a better choice. We have lots of members that have had excellent results with the VSG. Check out the VSG message board and maybe cross-post there too.
The other positive to having the Sleeve is that if you decide you want to have the DS, you are half-way there.
I have a good friend who had VSG 2 years ago. She is still about 25 pounds from where she wants to be, but she has lost 205 pounds! Everyone tried to talk her into RNY because of the a,punt she had to lose, but she did NOT want to change the digestive process, so she stuck to her guns.
No matter which surgery you get, the surgery can help you get most of the weights off, but it is the lifestyle changes that will help you KEEP it off.
I had RNY because VSG wasn't available 8 years ago when I was choosing my surgery, but if I were choosing now, I would go for VSG (and I lost 190 pounds with RNY(wanted to lose 200)). So I am really rooting for my friend to keep her weight off without altering her intestinal system.
