muscle mass

Yes - my husband did and he always got in his protein.  However, he didn't do any strength training and at 7 months out I'm still battling with him to do it.

However, even with strength training and adequate protein you WILL lose muscle mass.  I've had underwater body fat testing done 3 times during this journey and I've been able to calculate that for every 10 lbs. of weight lost that I averaged about 1 lb. of muscle loss.  And I did resistance training the whole way.

There's just no getting around it but there are ways to minimize it.  Weight train 3 times a week and get in that protein!

Yes, guaranteed to lose muscle mass, no matter what measure you take. But I wouldn't worry about. It easy to put it back on. Actually you find it easier to put on after you lose a lot of weight. I would take it easy for awhile and enjoy the ridr. Then when you are ready to hit the gym, hit it hard!

I was finally taken off of my weight restrictions this week, and I'm surprised at how much weaker my upper body is now.  I finally got to lift my 5 year old daughter, and it was hard.  I'm so glad I can start weight training now, because I do want to recover my strength, and not lose my muscle mass.
