RNY surgery and a hernia.......
I am hoping to have RNY surgery, but am wondering if this can be done if I have a hernia. My hernia is the result of gallbladder surgery when I was 19yr old. If anyone has had surgery or knows of anyone who has had surgery with a hernia, could you let me know.. I'm really hoping that it won't affect the decision.
Thank you,
Kim :)
Thank you so much for your reply.. I am so worried that they would not be able to do the surgery if I had a hernia.
Thank you again, :)

Unbeknownst to me, I had a hernia at the time of surgery. The surgeon repaired it at the same time. He joked that he threw that it as a bonus surgery -- and indeed, he didn't charge anything for it. LOL. I will say that the hernia repair was actually the most painful part of the recovery. However, even that wasn't bad considering I was back to work on my feet within two weeks.

Hi, and thank you for your reply. I haven't had it repaired because my Dr. told me that if it wasn't causing me any trouble, then we would just leave it.. I'm not sure if being overweight has anything to do with not repairing it, but that is what I was told.
Thanks again,
Kim :)
