I had surgery the same day. I have had just as much trouble getting liquids down as you if not more and I found that drinking hot decaffeinated tea with splenda has made it SO much better. After about a day of just drinking that, I started craving water finally and now am able to get flavored water down wonderfully.

Try your hardest to not get dehydrated!

I know this is tough. I've been in SO much pain. Especially on my left side.

It can only get better from here on out..... Right?

It seems that hot decaf tea has been the only liquid that I'm able to tolerate. I had my surgery 10/13, but had setbacks from complications, so I am behind in my food progression. Hopefully it will get better.

warm was way easier for me than cold or even room temp.  When do you see your surgeon again?  There is such a thing as a stricture where nothing much goes down.  You don't want one of those.

Hydration is a full-time job right now, and your body doesn't care how hard it is.  Your goal today and every day is a minimum of 64oz.  Try different flavors and temperatures.  I hated everything, but found peace with green koolaid and splenda.  I don't even know how that flavor came to mind, but I thought it worth a try.

I found ice chips and sf popsicles also helped as only a little bit went down at a time.  It takes a while for your internal swelling to subside.  It does get better!!

Ice cold water was what worked for me.  I couldnt stomach warm or room temp for a few weeks.  Try any and all, and sip sip sip.  It will get better.  I can gulp a few sips at a time now at 4+ months.
