He's afraid of sagging skin

I have not had the surgery yet & my significant other is worried big time of the sagging skin I will have. It doesn't really bother me since I know it can be fixed; but he worries. My question is does/or did anyone have trouble with their spouses or significant others reaction to your bodies after you lost all of your weight and you had the saggy skin before you could have the surgery to fix it since my doctor said it can't be done for a year after I've lost all of my weight? Please help me; this will not change my mind of surgery; but I need to get him ready of what he's in for.

My SO and I have a lot of non-weight related issues -- but my sagging skin is not a problem.  And if it were a problem, it would be his to deal with, not mine.  Once I decided to have surgery, nothing he said could have stopped me.  He loved me fat, and he loves me with saggy skin.  I hope to have surgery (panniculectomy and breast reduction), but only with insurance approval.  I can't afford any other "work" - so I'll always have bat wings and floppy thighs.

Hello Mary Gee,

Thank you for your reply I feel the same way you do in regards to my skin sagging. Heck my arms are like jello now which I have been exercising so hopefully I can tighten them up some B4 surgery so when skin drops it won't be so bad hopefully. He's afraid of me having this surgery but I have so many health issues that this surgery will help or/and may get rid of; so that's why I'm having it not to be vain & just want to look better I want to finally be healthy

Thanks,

GenieR

Why is he worried about it?  Is he worried he won't find you attractive?  Worried it will get in the way of sex?  What, exactly, is the source of his concern?  Is he, perhaps, scared about the surgery itself and using the skin issue as a scapegoat?

Hi GwenMo,

Thanks for your reply, his problem is he's afraid of the surgery for me. We have had so many people telling us horror stories about their friends surgery. I would then ask did  they follow their doctors orders to the T; the answer usually is NO. So, that doesn't stop my other half from worrying. So, now that you said it he may be using the skin issue to try to talk me out of doing the surgery.

Thanks,

GenieR

It might be useful, if you can, to take him to support group meetings or seminars.  I think that information is the key to dispelling fear!

The next time he mentions sagging skin, look at him VERY seriously and tell him that you are glad he brought it up, that you have been wanting to broach a very sensitive subject with him for some time, but  was afraid to hurt his feelings. But, since he seems to have the same concerns as you, you want to express your own concerns. Then, take his hand and oh, so sensitively tell him that his testicle skin is SO saggy, you know he'll want to get it tightened up ASAP. There are testicle exercises to tighten the unsightliness, but, surgery is an option, and these http://www.neuticles.com/ will be available for humans in the next 6 months. This will keep that skin nice and tight, no wrinkles or sags. Offer to schedule your surgery the same week as his, so that you can recover together and bond over being so physically "reborn" due to the miracles of modern science!

All kidding aside, I wish you luck in your journey!
