Protein HELP!
I know that protein drinks are very important. The problem? They taste disgusting!! Please help me find a solution to this. They make me gag! i start my liquid diet tomorrow. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do to these protein drinks to make them more palatable? I really hope there is something I can do. HELP!
I find I like Syntrax nectars and now that I am further out (4 yrs) Syntrax Matrix the best of anything I have tried. I use Mint Cookie and Vanilla each morning in my decaf to start the day. then mid morning and mid afternoon I mix a crystal light (generic) and 1/2 scoop of Lemon Tea or Caribean Cooler. I did a whole scoop when I needed it but now, 1/2 scoop twice a day keeps my protein level up with my protein based meals. You can order a sample pack from them so you can try a bunch of different flavors. I enjoy something other than the basic chocolate/vanilla routine.

I love Unjury. If you go to the website they have a sample pack for $20.00 that included all of there flavors. I liked them more before surgery though, I'm getting really sick of them now. They also have unflavored powder then you really can't taste at all. Unjury.com. Good luck!

The Unjury chocolate splendor was the best tasting to me. I mixed it with 8oz of skim milk. Tasted like chocolate milk. The only other one I liked was the Unjury chicken noodle soup. Mixed it with 8oz of water. All of the other ones tasted too chalky to me. Good luck. Definitely try the starter pack first. FYI- call the number and order over the phone. It's a small company and they hand pack your order. If the order gets in by 4:30pmET it will ship the same day. They process phone orders first. It usually arrives via ups within 3 business days.
I use cashew milk now for all my shakes. I like to start with a Vanilla Base, and then, really the possibilities multiply. I mix in PB2, splenda and Caramel Torani...tastes just like a Peanut Butter Cookie. Sometimes I just do Vanilla Powder and a tbsp. of fat free, sugar free puddings like pistachio, banana crème and butterscotch...YUM! Another favorite in the mornings is 1/2 scoop Vanilla, and 1 scoop Click espresso powder. I like them sweet, so, for me, a tbsp. or two of Splenda is a must!

This might be of no help because I didn't have to do a pre-op diet and after surgery, I wasn't bypassed!!
but the aim is to get in enough protein in a liquid form, yes? Well, I never had a protein shake! I made a soup base with veggies, added high protein things like soya, lentils, chick peas. Added stock and blended to the correct consistency. The resulting soup was not as high protein as a chemically enhanced protein shake. But I got enough by simply having more! Because it was mainly veggies, it didn't push calories up too high. You could always blend in some unflavoured protein powder.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I took the attitude that I hated being fat and surgery was my chance to be a normal weight. So I would have drank mud shakes if that was what I needed to do. My favorites are from BSN called Lean Dessert and Syntha-6. They smell like cake mix. The smell of most protein powder is what is disgusting.
