insurance approval

Paperwork was submitted to insurance on October 13th for gastric sleeve.  How does it typically take to get approved?

Im new here...my paperwork was submitted October 28, 2014.  Yesterday my doctors office called me to tell me my Iinsurance was approved for gagastric bypass.  I have Anthem bluecross of CA...  I think any day you should hear something.   

It really varies. Mine took 3 weeks. I bet you're excited. Wishing you a quick response. 

It varies with your insurance. Mine was submitted to my insurance on 9/30/14 and I had a response on 10/12/14. I had my VSG on 10/30/14. If you don't hear anything within 3 calendar weeks from submission, I would definitely call your insurance company and check on the status. Since it has been longer than that, definitely call to check on it.
