Iron Issues
Thank you for this!! Very helpful. I am still trying to understand all about vitamins, timing, testing, etc and I read all I can on this subject, so thanks again! I have my 6 month post-op Labs scheduled December 1 (I requested several Lab tests) and I want a paper copy to compare with the pre-op Labs taken in April. I almost feel like I am studying for a test!!

Amy, I knew about secondary RLS as related to varicose veins but not low iron. It was while I was sitting with my husband and listening to the sleep doc talk about the connection that I really paid attention. THEN the RLS came back and while my PCP worked on getting my iron panel and a referral to a hematologist, he gave me mirapex...I don't like taking drugs if I can fix it another way.
I NOW have a standing order with my hematologist to infuse if either my ferritin drops below 50 OR my iron sat drops below 30% regardless of my hemoglobin. :)
Glad I could help.

For those ever needing infusions: Ask your Hemo Doc about injectafer... http://www.injectafer.com/ newer, just 30 minute infusions, 2 weeks in a row. Super easy and very effective went from Ferritin 2 to normal again. P.S. Deficiencies can happen despite taking all your vits and eating well. Double edged sword of a malabsorptive procedure.
