please help me
Yes, it's pretty common immediately after surgery. It will get better. Right now, it's sort of a "liquid in, liquid out" sort of thing. Your doctor can probably give you something to slow things down, but time will help tremendously. Once you start eating solid foods and taking your iron and calcium, things will firm up a LOT.
I have read lots of posts on VSG none have reported this type of incident. How can Ms.Batt say it is normal she had DS wls. How would she know that it is normal for VSG. Are you wanting a second opinion? The nurses could give an honest answer to this question. I cant answer it . I had Rny. I did everything normal from day 1. I would go to the VSG forum and ask this there.. I do have accidents like yours when I eat lots of fiber and sugar together. May want to wear medium size pads until you get the swing of how your body is adjusting to the surgery. Good luck on your new journey..Wendy

I had VSG but outpatiently where they put the 5 holes in the stomach. I was out of work for only two days so maybe that type of surgery is different from yours but my problem was the exact opposite where I could not poop for a few days and the gas buildup was extremely uncomfortable and painful! So maybe this will be a blessing in disguise for you!? Yet, I guess the nurse would know. Wish you well!
I didn't experience this. Nor do I see lots of people on the VSG forums mentioning this. Can you ask your surgeon?

I had my surgery on Sept. 9th. Yes, this happened to me; it happened once. I had the backless hospital gown on, had to go change, and the nurses had to clean the bed. I was embarrassed. When I got home, OMG. Don't know if it was the liquid in, liquid out or just the protein shakes, but I had diarrhea for at least the first week or two. Now, with taking iron supplements, I look back fondly on those days.
Purple Cow,
I was sleeved 10/28. I had the same issue a few times at the hospital. I cried since I was so embarrassed. The nurses told me it happens very frequentlly. I even had a little "accident" on the car ride home from the hospital. I laugh at it now. . . Sh** happens. To be very honest, I think it's better than being constipated. To date, that was the worst thing that has happened to me so far. It gets better!
I wish you all the best!
