I absolutely know what your feeling.

I'm 8 days out and just today got in all my fluids. As far as protein, forgetaboutit!

Maybe tomorrow, I can only do what I can do.

Full liquids and creamy soups are sooo much better and easier to deal with than clears.

I even sucked on a Tums lozenge the other night When I woke uP With a gas pain. IT WORKED

ITS getting easier and easier to take on water as of today. Shakes are starting to flow as well.

Still can't tolerate the liquid protein drinks. Just the smell of them turns my sleeve.

I hope that helps, it does get easier.

I still cant believe I made it the 10 days before surgery on just the protein drinks. Now as you said I don't even want to look at them (even though they have 27 grams of protein) I am trying everything else to get up to my 60 grams per day. I will try a tums lozenge I hadn't heard of that. Thanks, good luck

I know exactly how you are feeling. I am one week post-op today and was feeling exactly the same way until today. My doctor prescribed me an antacid and something for spasms. I also switched from regular milk to lactose-free milk (not sure if that is what did it) and today I finally feel like things are going down. I'm not sure if it's the lactose-free milk or the medication that was prescribed since I've only had two doses of it, or maybe the swelling from the breathing tube in my throat has gone away... But anyway, seems to finally be on the right track. The clear liquids were the easiest at that time even though I was forcing myself to at least take down one protein shake even though it was painful. My surgeon told me that you could be lactose intolerant and not know until after the surgery. It will make drinking painful and feel like you have gas or heartburn. IF you have already been prescribed something, try removing anything with lactose.

I have been using soy milk for everything, I don't know if that has lactose in it but I will look and try anything. Thank you, good luck

Try some chewable Gas-X, always takes care of it.
