Call your surgeon and ask what his specific plan is.  Every plan is different so none of us can tell you what your surgeon requires.

I would get a copy of the paper because all doc's requirements are different. I was on a clear liquid diet for only one day prior to surgery but I tried to stick to liquids in general for the week prior. Others are on liquids for a couple of weeks and then some.

As far as the clear (pre and post op)...tropical sugar free popsicles were my best friend! Also jello and broth and powerade zero.

Good luck! Trust me it will all be worth it in the end. I have had not one regret other than I didn't do it sooner!

See if the office could email you a copy of that paper.  Every program is different.  Mine had us do 2 weeks of full liquid and one day of clear liquid just before surgery.  Get some of that Unjury  chicken soup.  It's pretty good.  Otherwise, broth, jello, popcycles.  You might try Isosourse.  It's in a 40 ounce bottle and has a lot of protein (I forget how much).  I thought It tasted pretty gross but learned that if I diluted it with water it wasn't bad.  It is clear and a lot of different flavors.  Usuall found in the Vitamin shop or GNC.

I'm on mine right now. Today is my 6th day out of 14 days. I am NOT miserable at all... except.... I've lost no weight. I've been following my doctors orders but haven't lost. That's the only thing that I'm upset about.

Good luck to you.

The purpose of the pre-op diet is to make your liver easier to work around, so don't worry if you don't lose weight with it.

I'm on a high-protein liquid diet for two weeks (surgery date 11/17).  I started Monday.  I THOUGHT I'd be miserable but I'm not!!  I'm very full and I have lots of energy.  It's been a happy surprise. :)

My diet is:

Breakfast - protein shake & plain oatmeal package

Snack - sugar free jello/pudding

Lunch - protein shake & FF/low sugar yogurt

Snack - same as above

Dinner - same as lunch

Before bed snack - protein shake & applesauce

I'm using UNJURY chicken broth flavored shake for lunch & dinner because it feels like I'm eating soup.  I do a Click shake for breakfast, because it's a coffee/mocha latte shake and feels like a frappaccino. :)
