Troubling digesting calcium citrate
on 11/3/14 10:16 am
I have had trouble digesting calcium citrate. I have chewables, but even after mashing them up to the point where they have dissolved in my mouth before I swallow, my stomach does not seem to like it going down. Anyone else have this same problem? My VSG was just on 10/30/14. Maybe it just takes time?
My surgeon's plan has us wait until two weeks post-op to start taking vitamins for this very reason, since they can be hard on a new stomach. I'd suggest contacting your surgeon and seeing if you can wait until you're out of the liquid stage, since you might have better luck taking them with food in your stomach.

My doc didn't require vitamins for 2 weeks also. Give it a couple of days. You can buy some that are like chewable candies. they might be easier than crushing. Good Luck

they have calcium citrate chewies. They taste pretty much like little candies. They have caramel, chocolate peanut butter, orangesicle and i believe mint flavored also. I get mine from bariatricadvantage. They are a little pricey but i go with them because my bariatric office carries there brands, so i get samples all the time. I am sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere. I know CVS has a BOGO sale on there vitamins right now and i know they have calcium citrate chewies, but i dont think they have much of a flavor selection
