who was the lady thinking of backing out?
She didn't have the surgery. She posted an update.

I don't think it's sad. I think it's good she decided not to go through with a surgery she did not feel ready for. I think it was courageous of her to make the decision she felt was best for her even though some people will look down on her for it.

I agree with Kelly. She didn't sound at all ready to make the commitment needed to be successful long term, and I think waiting until she IS ready is the best thing she could have done.
When I first looked into WLS (when I met a hard school colleague who had done it several years earlier), my insurance had an exclusion. About a year and a half later, the exclusion was eliminated and by then I had done more research, had done some additional "head work", and was ready to change my life. When I first considered RNY, I was expecting it to be something easy to "fix" my obesity problem once and for all (even though I knew I was going to have to change my food choices and eating habits).
I don't think I would have been as successful if I had done it when I first looked into it.
