The only pre-op 'diet' I had to do was clear liquids the day before surgery. I can't imagine spending two weeks on nothing but milk!

Congrat's on the surgery approval do you have a date?  It is exciting.  So your journey has begun.

I had a 3 week pre-op liquid diet.  I could have up to 800 calories a day.  I was to drink at least 4 protein shakes a day.  My protein goal to strive for was 60 grams a day.  I could also have decaf coffee/tea, apple juice, white grape juice, water (total of 64 oz of liquid daily), clear broth, sf koolaid, skim milk, crystal light, sf tang, sf popsicles, sf jello, lactose free milk, or plain soy milk.  No food whatsoever, I have read that some people get to have one meal a day.

The third week I could only have clear liquids.   I also had to do one of those drinks 2 days before surgery that you take before a colonoscopy.  Yuck.

I was so ready to have the surgery by the end of week 3.  The liquid diet is to shrink your liver so my Dr said.  On the flip side I lost about 33 pounds before surgery.  I was on insulin shots and was taken off insulin before surgery and after surgery I was taken off every pill I took but one before I left the hospital.  If you need help or have more questions you can always come back and ask, people on OH are very good about responding and the vets are super helpful.  Good luck
