The hair loss is called telogen effluvium, and there isn't anything you can take to prevent or stop the hair loss.  You just have to wait for it to run its course.  It will end in a couple of months.

Making sure you get enough protein and that you get in all your vitamins will keep it from being any worse, but they really don't lessen it. (Several vitamin deficiencies can cause hair loss.)

Some people believe that biotin will help encourage regrowth, but there isn't really any medical evidence to support that.

I have not had my surgery yet but am really concerned about this. Mine is very fine already.

It will either happen or not.  There's nothing you can do to stop, prevent or lessen it.  The good news is that it ends and your hair grows back.  It's a small price to pay for losing weight and feeling better.

I've read on a previous post that taking "biotin" will cause facial hair growth.  Those of you who have used biotin, has this happened to you?

It doesn't happen to everyone -- it doesn't even happen to MOST -- but it does happen to some people who take very large doses.  I was one of the ones that it DID happen to.  There are a number of us here. (The excess facial hair is permanent, BTW.)

It happened to me.  I'm probably the one who made that previous post.

I mention this whenever someone starts questioning if they should take biotin.  Buyer beware.  I'd rather have less hair on my head than more hair on my face.
