I know this sounds silly, but in the hospital recovering will I be wearing underwear with my nightgown?  I will have a drain port and don't know if underwear will interfere with it?  How did you guys deal with your drain?  Thanks!

I didn't bother. They will have you wiggle them down for exams - which is a PITA, so whenever I laid down in the bed, I undid my gown and was ready to flash on command.  As I sat up, I would fasten myself and put another gown on bakwards to serve as a robe - always securing my modesty

Perfect! I guess you are probably too tired and sore to really care much!  Thanks for the response!

It was easier to deal with the awkwardness of commando than the effort to wiggle in or out of anything for those 4 days I was in the hospital.

Well if I hadn't had my monthly friend I would NOT have worn undies. But I had no choice. I was given hospital underwear which is mesh and more forgiving than my regular underwear. So it wasn't so bad with the catheter. BTW, my surgeon didn't use a drain.

My suggestion...go commando!

Same here!  If I hadn't had to because of the monthly I wouldn't have bothered because bending over to pull them up after going to the bathroom was NO FUN!

I didn't wear any because it was a hassle and they recommended not to bother.

Thank you!  I didn't want to seem uncouth by not wearing them, but then yours actually recommend not to bother.

I was very self-conscious at first but my doctor told me that I didn't have anything they hadn't seen a million times already LOL.
