So much gas pain
I was sleeved on Monday and am writing to you from my hospital bed where I am experiencing the worst pain ever in my life. Gas pain. It is seriously the most awful thing ever in the world. They are giving me enough pain meds to snow me into next week and I'm walking. Oh my god the walking. 11 laps in 11 hours yesterday to no relief. Omg if anyone knows anything other than walking please help. I'm desperate.
My heart goes out to you! I've had more than my share of abdominal surgeries over the years and never had the issue with gas. When I had my RNY to VSG revision all surgery two weeks ago, I must have surely getting payback from all the times I didn't have gas pain. Nothing helped. You're luckier than I was to be able to walk. I had some issues with low oxygen levels and low BP, and could not even sit up for a few days.
I'm sorry to say that walking is the best way to get rid of the gas, but sometimes a heat pack can help as well. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. Hopefully it will pass soon.
Tell the nursing staff, mine gave me mylicon chewables and they really helped. I feel your pain...I had 2 surgeries in 2 days, doubled up on gas!!!! UGH!! Hang in there xoxo

I had extreme gas pain also and what I was told and what worked for me was to use Milk of Magnesia. It got all the gas out of me overnight. Of course this was a few days after my surgery and not immediately so I don't know if that will work for you or even if it is recommended. But gas will be certainly trapped in places and take a while to come out.
So sorry you're going through this! Depending on where you gas is lodged (mine lodged in the right shoulder), a heating pad really helps.
Not sure how big your "laps" are...but one an hour isn't nearly enough if the hospital is the same size as mine was. I was doing 4-5 laps per hour, which put me walking for at least 15 minutes of each hour.

I'm still in the hospital myself. 2 night mandatory stay from my surgeon so he can do post-op leak lest (swallow test) and remove the drain. I had bad gas pains last night but they gave me a gas relief in my IV and it's now all but gone. Ask the nurse if you are still in the hospital or if you aren't, call the doctors office to see if there is something they can prescribe .
