Just found out I was approved by BCBS for VSG surgery!
I am excited and nervous and waiting to find out from the doctor's office at Northwestern what I need to finalize to get a surgery date. I can't believe this is only a few weeks away!
I have enjoyed reading so many posts here on the boards over the last few months and I'm excited to join your ranks!
Allison

Hi and thank you! I saw my surgeon on 9/10 but the insurance approval wasn't submitted until 10/13- couldn't get the surgeon to sign off on the chart for some reason. Once submitted on the 13th, the insurance coordinator called yesterday morning for a status check to BCBS and found out it was approved. I will say also, though, that I happened to have seen my cardiologist of the 13th as well and had an echocardiogram and an EKG and he had signed off his approval for surgery as well, so the insurance coordinator was able to add that in when she submitted.
They scheduled the surgery this morning for 11/11 at Northwestern. I am over the moon and freaking out a bit!
I wonder if you could call member services at BCBS and find out any information or if the insurance coordinator could call for a status. Mine had let me know that legally the insurance company had 15 business days to respond to the submission. Have my fingers crossed for you!!
Congratulations on your surgery date!
