scheduled for vsg on the 10th of November.  have been on 5 opti's a day, and one small meal at night...protein and vegetable.  i'm so hungry and ugly i could scream.  but i've lost 11 pounds.  so why should i "mutilate' my body (as my kids say), instead of making one last-ditch effort to lose the weight and be done with it, and walk more, eat normally, not huge, like before??  several people who have had the VSG have complained of hunger on here. i cant take  being hungry like i am now. but i'm 70, so what to do?   help please? is it jitters? or should i mae one last effort?  maybe a shak for lunch and a normal breakfast and dinner??

first few days are worst... you will be fine... just take it easy .. you do fine... breathe in and out.. relax..

i couldn't stand the thought of doing this if i thought i was going to be hungry all the time.  that's really bothering me, because i see several people on here say they're hungry...

I was on plan like that for 4 weeks... Lots of water, herbal tea, and broth.... it can be done.. atteh end - I had a real hard time  to do 5 shakes.. typically I could do 4 + meal..

Lots of people think they're hungry immediately post-op, but it's mostly because of acid issues.  Once people start taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium that clears things up.

The first 3-4 days are the worst.

And your kids are jerks if they're giving you grief for "mutilating your body."  :/

I'm 7 months post-op and hunger now is nothing like hunger pre-op was.  Stick with your pre-op plan, get your surgery.  You can do it.

i haven't given up yet, but boy would it be a downer if the hunger didn't lessen. if i was as hungry post-op as i am now, i'd have to take the pipe. lol.   I'm walking every day, and have lost 11 pounds in a week. but those 5 shakes arent much. glad i can have one small meal ( i cheat the protein, i admit it, lol) a day.  usually protein and maybe a cup of vegetables.  thank Heaven for that one meal.

Things are not the same when you have the sleeve.  I was Ok with just clear liquids for 10 days post op !  Not a walk in the park but not really hungry as I would have expected.    Surgery changes everything.

5 years of waiting and I finally have my sleeve!!!!

Well it's easier said than done, that's for sure. It's so frustrating when people who haven't walked in your shoes offer unsolicited advice. But they love you and are scared. I took my mother with me to the seminar to ease some of her fears. Maybe they could attend a seminar to help understand what it all means?
