how to gain weight to reach BMI

My BMI has been over 40 for over a year. So I was shocked when I went to the Doc for my first Bariatric visit to find out I dropped a few pounds and now have a BMI of 38.9.  Im sure without even trying I will hit over 40BMI after the holidays and cold winter. Nonetheless, has anyone ever heard of tricks to weigh more for my next appointment?  I do not want to do Phentermine nonsurgical option because everyone gains it back. And, the last time I was placed on a nonsurgical prescription drug for weight loss the FDA banned it because it killed people (Meridian). Lastly, I would like to do the surgery when I am younger and it is easy for my body to recover rather than just have to have the surgery in 10 years once my underlying illnesses get worse.

One last rant PCOS SUCKS!

thank you for listening,

I don't think you need any "tricks" to gain weight.  I imagine you know how to gain weight.  I don't really recommend trying to gain weight, though.  If you have PCOS, does your insurance consider that a comorbidity?  If so, usually you only need a BMI of 35 to qualify for WLS.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Hmm.  That's a tough question.  I can't think of anything I could possibly eat to make me gain weight

Drink water before you get weighed, make sure your appointment is late in the day, leave your shoes on and put rolls of quarters in your pockets? Good Luck!

HECK YES PCOS SUCKS!!!! No idea where you reside. However, here in Sourhern California, PCOS is a co morbidity, in which case, you would only need a BMI of 35 to qualify for wls.

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. You're on this forum because you're overweight. You know how to gain weight.

Hi Wendy,

I think you are asking about a "trick" to weigh more, without actually gaining weight so you can start your journey with surgery?  I agree with the poster above who suggested drinking water on a late appointment day. Also, possibly the ankle weights or carry rocks in your pocket!! Wear a heavy necklace and a sweater!  Good luck to you, I wouldn't want to go non-surgical with those crazy drugs either; IMO surgery is MUCH safer!
