Can anyone give me clarification? I'm post op

I'm not clear if I'm doing the right thigs IE: eating the way I should.

i know I can have sugar free jello & ice pops. I know I should be eating at least 3 protein shakes /30 grams of protein each. Which I try  to sometimes I get two in. I tend to lean more having the Dannonyogurt Lite & fit it's on my sheet.... Is having more than 1 in a day bad?

I get at least 16oz of Broth in.  Am I having the sufficient amount of liquids / yogurt I should be?

The nutritionist I have is pointless. I have my 3 week follow up w/ the surgeon next Thursday.

Can anyone shed some light for this newbie? :-( I've hit a 2 day stall that's making me feel like I'm failing.

im open to suggestions please.

Thanks so much!

It sounds like you're 2-3 weeks out.  At that point, my plan had me on full liquids - I switched to pureed foods after 2 weeks.  (You should check your plan to see what you're supposed to be eating.)

You should be aiming for 64 ounces, minimum, of fluids.  Protein shakes count.  And you should be aiming for at least 60 grams of protein, preferably closer to 80.  But, again, check with your plan.  Those are pretty generic/standard requirements, though.

Liquids are easy and you can't harm yourself with the because they'll go straight through a properly functioning pyloric valve (which we have with the VSG).

As you progress to more solid foods, you want to make sure not to overeat.  Just because you can eat that cup of yogurt all at once doesn't mean you should.  Especially right now when your stomach is still healing.  The nerves were severed, you have no "full" signal that you can trust right now.  It's imperative to measure all of your food and stick to no more than 4 ounces at a meal.

I hope this helps a little bit..

Congratulations on starting new! First off a 2-day stall doesn't mean anything. You will not necessarily lose weight everyday even in the beginning. After week 1, I stalled for 3 1/2 weeks, and I was doing what I was supposed to. But then it starts again. In the beginning I asked my doc and he said I could eat 5-6 times a day. They never gave me a calorie count. just 60-80g protein and 64oz liquids. Until I started pureed- 2 shakes a day, then 1 per day. (for RNY). In the beginning you are so limited to what you can have and what agrees with you, having the same item more than once a day, I don't think is uncommon. I would eat 1/2 of one of those 6oz cups of yogurt. Good Luck!

I'm eating the whole cup of yogurt. :-/

since I was always a yo-yo dieter I know my body is like "wait, what's going on here again" I misspoke as of today I checked my calendar it's been 5 days since I haven't seen the scale move. But I'll hang tight & fight the good fight! What is RNY?

Appreciate your response. Thank you.
