New here
Hi, I am not sure if you have an area where we are to introduce ourselves, I am looking around and don't see it? So, I am Bridget, pre-op, hoping to have RNY. Waiting for my determination.... *crossing fingers and toes*...
I have been wanting this since 2009 or earlier. Life however, had other plans for me and due to one thing or another with regards to employment, I have never had the chance. NOW, years later, ..it's like life is giving me the chance finally. Hope to learn lots from you all, and offer help and support as well as I go through the journey.
Welcome.
There is a dedicated forum here on OH for each of the weight loss surgery types. The forum for RnY is here: RnY Forum You will likely find more specific information regarding the RnY in that group.
However, if you haven't completed decided on which surgery you'll be having, I would encourage you to learn about all four of the major WLS options. In addition to the RnY, there is the Duodenal Switch (at DS Forum); the LapBand (at LapBand Forum) and the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (at VSG Forum).
These forums generally offer a lot more surgery-specific information than we sometimes see here, on the Main Board.
Best of luck to you on your journey=)
I echo Amy's suggestion that you research ALL your options. I'm further going to point out that the Duodenal Switch has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats, especially for those of us with a BMI greater than 50. It's also the best at resolving or preventing diabetes and high cholesterol.
Welcome! I wish you the best of luck...I hope you get your approval soon.
